Children's Liturgy at St Michael's

Children’s Liturgy is a special celebration of the weekly liturgy for children. It involves children leaving the Sunday assembly during Liturgy of the Word and gathering elsewhere and celebrating a separate Liturgy of the Word which is more appropriate to their level of understanding. During this short time away from the main congregation, children examine the weekly Gospel reading through discussion, prayer, music, drama, art and craft. The children then rejoin their families to continue the celebration of Mass. These sessions are led by volunteers from the Parish. The aim of the Children’s Liturgy is to make the regular liturgy more accessible to children, and also to prepare them to participate fully in regular masses.

At Str Michael’s, our Children’s Liturgy program operates during the 10:00am Sunday Mass, within school terms. For more information about the program, or to enquire about becoming a volunteer in this important ministry, please contact Louise van Gend via the Parish Office.
