THE PARISH OF BAULKHAM HILLS
St Michael'S Church
Our Lady of Lourdes
Thank you for your continued support of the Parish in these difficult COVID and flu-like times.
I hope you are continuing to keep well, and while grateful for some nice sunny winter days, remind you that if you are not feeling well to stay at home and watch the Mass via the link below.
As you are aware, discussion continues about the need to wear masks in places where people are gathered. NSW Health strongly advises people get fully vaccinated and wear a face mask where they cannot physically distance. Masks are available from the front of the Church, should you wish to wear one.
PARISH UPDATE – FRIDAY 04 November
A COVID SAFE PARISH
November is a time to remember those who have died, and our Book of Remembrance at both Our Lady of Lourdes and St Michael’s will contain the names of those for whom our prayers have been asked especially this month.
November Mass offerings envelopes are still available at the doors.
The Parish Working Group has finalised a survey for all parishioners and school families. This is to provide some information about how as a parish we are doing. This survey will be mainly done online, and we encourage as many as possible to do it via the online method, as this will provide immediate data. However, paper copies will be available for those who prefer this.
This is the link for the online version for all parishioners, which we encourage you to use.
The Paper version will be available this weekend at both Churches.
The version for school families will be sent via the schools.
We have a number of people who are housebound and we would like to offer them communion along with a visit during the week. We are also trying to build up a visiting/communion roster for residents at our aged care facilities – Aminya Care, BUPA, Summit Care and MacKillop House. For this we need your help.
We are willing to guide you – especially to help with giving communion. Volunteers will need to some online training. If you can spare some time each week or fortnight please contact either office – OLOL 9639 8385 or via email@example.com or St Michael’s 9639 0598 or via firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
Pope Francis continued his cycle of catechesis on Discernment, focusing on the theme “The elements of discernment. Self-knowledge”
Congratulations to David Dowling, one of our long-time parishioners, who will be ordained to the permanent diaconate by Bishop Vincent at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta, on Saturday, December 10 at 10.30am. Four other men who have been preparing with him will also be ordained to serve in our diocese.
David and his wife Dee have always been very active in our parish community, but for the last two years, David has been working at St John XXIII Parish, Stanhope Gardens, as part of his formation. David and his four confreres will bring the number of active permanent deacons to 20.
We congratulate David and Dee on this important step in their journey.
Please remember those for whom prayers have been requested, especially for:
- Dorothy Rowan,
- John Walker,
- Salud Ayap,
- Justin Connellan,
- Andrew Sitaramayya
- Tongkuan Liu
The funeral of John Walker will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Tuesday, 8th November at 10am.
The funeral of Dorothy Rowan will be held at St Michael’s Church on Thursday, 10th November at 11 am.
